
U.S. Embassy in Port Moresby has an immediate vacancy for a suitably qualified
The Foreign Service National Investigator (FSNI) for the Regional Security Officer (RSO) requires in-depth knowledge of case management, and maintaining high-level contacts within the host government and private security sector.
The principal duties of this position are to complete full background investigations and other inquiries on U.S. citizens, Locally Engaged Staff (LES) members, and contract personnel by verifying education, previous employment claims, residential history checks, references, and government records to obtain information about moral and social behavior characteristics, financial status, and suitability for employment. Incumbent analyzes information gathered during investigations and prepares written reports of findings.
Additionally, incumbent conducts weekly and annual security awareness briefings for LES members and coordinates security for special events, temporary duty personnel, and VIP visits.
Minimum Requirements
- Completion of secondary school is required.
- Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in security/investigative work with law enforcement, government police, military, or other security field.
- Fluent English - level IV, Tok Pisin - level III.
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of investigative techniques and the Papua New Guinea legal system is also necessary.
- Must have strong problem solving and planning skills. Must possess initiative and be resourceful in obtaining information or evidence. Must have interviewing, report writing, and organization skills. Must have a current driver’s license.
Salary: K48, 330 – K62, 010 per annum, plus benefits. Please note that housing is not a condition of employment.
